We have a ‘4 stage procedure’ for all GM’s that approach ourselves before we approve them for a clients consideration:

  • CV’s are thoroughly checked with all previous employers
  • A minimum of 3 up-to-date references are obtained and verified
  • A detailed telephone interview is carried out
  • Before a candidate is proposed to a client we carry out a 2nd ‘face to face’ intense interview with them that is specific to the client’s requirements & position on offer.

We can rightly state that our client approach and candidate vetting procedure is robust and thorough, all stages carried out by our director who is possessive of 41 exemplary years in Hotels. Our prime directive is to ensure that we only propose candidates to yourself that can run a business effectively in all aspects and in all situations and are possessive of exemplary skills and experience.

It is an unfortunate reality that many hospitality recruitment agencies are owned, managed & staffed by ‘industry inexperienced’ persons, who do not visit yourself & your premises to fully understand your requirements, furthermore, they do not interview their GM candidates in detail ‘face to face’ – these are the vital stages that should be done without fail considering the fees they charge; they therefore cannot justify such candidates to yourself nor their excessive fees for what is a clearly flawed & incomplete process for such a critical position in a business.

Recruitment Agency fees are normally based on 15% to 20% of a GM’s gross salary, a payable fee of between £5250 & £7000 on an average GM salary of £35,000. This is a fee level that is simply unaffordable for many small and medium sized businesses as it represents the greater part of a business units weekly revenue.
